Efficient and sustainable management of safety in transport

Analysis of the behavioral patterns of customers in transportation networks where there exist different alternatives for the recharging of electric/hybrid vehicles, and where the arrival rate of customers is variable.
Given a road network where a number of recharging stations is available, we aim at studying under which conditions individual equilibria (in terms of equal total waiting times in the system, taking both queuing and service times inti account) may occur between the different recharging policies. Such information may be used for the competent authorities to design and foster more efficient policies for the optimal use of existing resources, decongesting the most overloaded recharging points in favor of less congested stations.
On a second stage of the project, the models previously developed could be used to determine the optimal distribution of new recharging points, if the expected increase in the number of hybrid/electric vehicles would make necessary an ampliation of the current network in a near future.
